Blue on Blue

February 3rd, 2007 by lily-aka-cherylyn

eversince my last post, i’ve been busy with all sorts of things.

Choir is an endless job for me. I felt really guilty when more than 3 person asked me how was my harmonising on the choir song. Well people, i can finally and proudly announced that i have finished writing SATB for the choir song. The only that is left out is the piano accompaniment with the song which i will eventually figure out. It took me about 2 days to figure out what i want in the song and i can actually write out the rhythm(and blues? wakaka..) when i asked a bit of professional help from my piano teacher.

The practice might start on the coming Wednesday after school for morning session students only. I think Pn Maizon wants to prep up the seniors for the combined practices with the juniors. This is because Saturday is a non-school day, i could do all the practices on that day but she asked for Wednesday too and I don’t mind.

Now, what else did I left out for the past week?

Hmm……… okay, i duty on Friday. That is so weird!!!! coz’ i don’t know a single thing on first aid and Iona’s briefing made me confused??? Anyway, there were no casualities. i was paying more attention to the marching practice near by in the gelanggang tennis. i couldn’t help jumping for joy when they got their timing right.

Yesterday was Sports Day at the stadium as usual. I went there really early although i wasn’t participating in anything. i car pooled Mei Wei’s Myvi with lots of other ppl. It’s a wonder if the traffic police didn’t stop us. By the time i reach the stadium, the PBSM contijent was already there, busying around with their uniforms, berets, name tags etc. I was there flicking away with Yie Vin’s camera. Tried taking pictures of the moon but i’m not used to her cam yet.

Vicki and I went across the field of the stadium to be where the contijent is. Sort of help around but not being a nuisance. when it was time to be at the audience stand, we found our seats and i went around looking for the best spot to take videos and shoots of the event of the morning.

This year, our school invited the marching band from RZ. The band was huge and really nice in dark red and yellow. The instruments were incredible. i can’t help looking at the clarinet. It was really sleek looking for an instrument. Anyway, back to the lintas hormat from the prefects, class monitors………..etc. There were so many and PBSM was the last third or fourth to march up the grand stand.

I was really proud of them. They marched generally in uniform; they could have done better for the salute. Even pengakap wasn’t up to par this year. Their ayunan tangan and timing were bad. Anyway, this year’s marching competition was really early due to the Sports Day date. Many contijent were able to practice in time but the hardworking did what they can.

After the marching, our cliques went to Gardini’s in a jiffy coz’ we heard rumours about the stadium being locked up to prevent students from going back early.

Brendan showed me pictures of him and his family during their trips in China last year. It was really interesting. I like the trees though. A lot of crap was going on and Ken was being down? Anyway, i have no idea. We stayed really long enough when some of them return from duty. We went for sushi after that.

There were 8 of us really eating. Bren and I had fun picking sushi’s from the train. The most interesting part was the bill. We were raving about photocopying the receipt and laminating it for everyone. I will not disclose what is the amount here but you can ask me if you do see me.

After that, i was pretty exhausted when we went back to the playground near the stadium. My mom called and she was able to fetch me home.

Later in the evening, i had BM tuition.

I pop into bed after 10.30pm upon coming back from both my grandparents place. I was sleeping in my dad’s lap when we’re at his parents house in Port Klang.

P.S. I want photos from Gardini’s and Sushi’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Song Sung Blue

January 19th, 2007 by lily-aka-cherylyn

A week has passed and time is flying by as I type this. I should be doing my hardcore housework instead of wasting time on plastic keyboards but then, I would like to summarise what happened what happened in my life for the past week.

Monday was the formal assembly day as usual in school. They finally announced the choir auditions and i hear a few things that caused a hiccup in my head. Such a hiccup shouldn’t occur, after all, some people just love to interfer in business which is none of their concern. I have support from various people, I wouldn’t give up for such an opportunity.

Collecting names for the auditions was a slow affair. The morning session students weren’t as enthusiastic as the afternoon students. About 53 signed up but unknown and unregistered students came on Wednesday afternoon, even half the names in the name list didn’t turn up. I would say that the last minutes compensate the irresponsible half.

Anyhow, i spend almost two days running to and fro looking for the forms representatives, not to mention looking for Pn Maizon numerous times and finally set my foot into the Bilik Gerakan at 12.30pm on Wednesday, right after Pn Suraya’s English class that finished on time.

I couldn’t help feeling a excited, or should I say nervous? After all, this is the first time I conducted an audition. The fortunate things was this first audition involves the little teens first. I expect more challenge in the next round of auditions for the morning sesssions students.

I’m surprised to say that some musicians participated in the auditions didn’t sing up to par. I’m seriously in a shock that a few girls learning the piano is tone deaf. I don’t know whether they’re nervous or what, but they can’t sing on key! Even the uneducated in the music field can sing better. However, I manage to keep in mind of one or two that lived up to my expectations as a musician.

As for the boys, I can’t blame for being really nervous. Maybe the feminine presence in the room just make them lose their cool. A boy actually quited on me when giggles spreaded across the room when he sang. I feel sorry for him although I hate to a wide grin on my face; His voice cracked for a boy going through puberty. He just say he doesn’t want to continue the audition and I’m ironically surprise. I couldn’t do anything but let him go. I guess he suffered enough embarassement for a lifetime. Hopefully he has no hard feelings.

I’m even more sorry to say that some juniours that turned up to reaudition didn’t sing well either. Some were really tone deaf and made me wonder how they end up in the choir last year in the first place. I think Pn Maizon hates to admit that.

Anyhow, on Friday, I met Amirul on the track during Merentas Desa. He informs me that a girl whose name i don’t wish to disclose, purposely sang off key so that she can get off the choir team. I’m disappointed on such behaviour but forcing people into what they don’t want is not good either. Maybe she will come back again when she realise what she did. Till then, I wish her luck and I would say that everyone deserves a chance.

The audition took me almost 2 hours to complete for the afternoon session only. I finished it with much relief and tiredness. After exchanging a few words with my fellow senior members and teachers, I’m off on my bike home.

I still have lots to do after that; I’m still collecting names for the choir especially guys names because the choir lacks male voices and having discussions with the senior members.

Next week’s auditions will be for the morning session students whom are going to be new members and the afternoon students whom are under my KIV list.

Amidst all this work, I’m finding time to finish my homework and writing the choir score for the english song. I’m actually half through the score; I’m still having ideas on how the tenor and bass should sound. At the same time, I trying to figure out how to cure tone deafness. After a bit of research, I now know that tone deafness is genetic. This will be sad news for most people. According to Kenneth, it is incurable like colour blindness. I can’t agree on that. There were ways to cure tone deafness, it’s just that i’m not a professional things like this.

Conclusion: I’m trying my best to solve the glitches in the choir and I’ll provide the best that I can give to it.

New Year? 2007?

January 11th, 2007 by lily-aka-cherylyn

Seriously, 2007 just passed like a breeze, for me. The only thing i did was going online exactly at 12 and looking out my study room for fireworks which i did see.

It’s just seem like another year for me which, i think, we will be busy as usual. I have commitments at the Koperasi and the School Choir. SPM and the coming piano exams are huge for me too.

I joined the Koperasi bcoz i was convinced it would be provide experience which i will need for my beautiful future. i got to know that prices of this and that many others.

As for choir, i considered it as one of my big commitments of the year. I quit most activites especially PBSM "big" activities like kawad except for the usual Saturday meetings. I’m pretty excited about choir work because Pn Maizon is more commited as usual, she actually call on me on the 3rd day of school. Besides that, Suraj even came to my class during Pn Suraya’s period just to ask me bout choir stuff. How enthusiastic can this whole business be, huh?

To make it even more interesting, another good friend of mine decided he would join the choir too, that is if he passes my vocal range test this coming auditions. The song selection this year that we intend to perform for events and especially the competition has been chosen. I’m currently in the process of formulating the SATB of the English song we’re gonna sing. Sorry, for not mentioning the names of the songs, i want to keep it private first before known to public though some friends knows about it.

I visioned a better year for choir this year since the teachers and my fellow senior member are very cooperative and most of all very commited( i know, i used this word a couple of times up there, but the sound of it makes it so important!). i can’t wait for the auditions and getting to know our new members which hopefully, will bring glory to our school’s name.

Anyone interested in the school choir?

The auditions are on the 17th Jan 2007, Wednesday at the Bilik Gerakan.

Afternoon session students are asked to come at 12.30pm.

As for the morning session students, it will be held on the same day after school hours.

I would advise that you warm up your voices before coming for the auditions and pls inform me (5S1) or Afiq (5S4). Thank you.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

December 15th, 2006 by lily-aka-cherylyn

Lately, i had a Girls Just Wanna Have Fun party. It wasn’t a huge one just a mini party for fun and as the theme goes, it’s for girls only. i invited a few girls and 5 of them turned up, including my sister and me, there’s about 7 of us and a nice number for lunch.

Melissa came really early as usual. I accompanied her the whole morning and did some housework to. I also get to learn to bake chocolate cake just for the party. I’m not sure whether i wanna bake it again. Anyway, the party was set for noon.

As i presume, most of everyone was fashionably late. Iona was the first of all in the guest list to turn up. While we were eating some cake, drinking my fruit punch and watching The Incredibles, the Dominoes delivery man came. Just when we were preparing the lunch table, Aisha and Yin Xian turned up and then again, just when we were to settle for our pizza lunch, Khadi finally turned up. Finally, the party was complete with food and people.

We were pretty much cozy at the dining table. Eating, talking, laughing etc. you name it. After eating pizzas and junk food, we went out to the living room to continue watching The Incredibles. Yin Xian left half way through for her piano lessons nearby and when the movie was finished she came back again.

We played twister. Khadi and I always hands up first for every round coz we couldn’t take the intensity of the game but we enjoyed laughing at the others while my sister give very impossible commands like, "heads on blue" or "right elbow blue". Can’t imagine that, eh?

After Twister, we played my gigantic plactic mapped Snakes and Ladders when Iona or Aisha found it. We just enjoyed playing with our fate and luck, not to mention screaming and groaning for the rest of the hour. By the time the game finished, my mom was back to cook dinner and that was about 6pm.

Everyone was scramming and "walking" around to throw away any visible rubbish or excess food around the living room and dining table. By the time my mom entered the living room, it was quite eye soothing.

By this time, everyone is prepared to head home.

I had lots of fun and hope no one got toiletry problems. Hehehe….

I’m currently trying to complete my Add maths project and form 4 revision. At the same time, still working out at the Southern Park field. As for piano playing, i’ve never stopped that and still collecting new music sheets. the latest were HSM music sheets. If anyone is interested, give me your email add and i’ll send it over.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Mumble with his Happy Feet

December 8th, 2006 by lily-aka-cherylyn

my aunt wanted to take my and sister to watch weeks ago but she was very busy at the time we wanted to go and finally today we got to watch it.

i can tell this movie deserves the box office hit. it even out run Casino Royale. Even the spirit of Elvis came back to life in one of the animated characters. You just can’t miss Heartbreak Hotel in this movie.

Most important thing of all, this movie teaches us more than the music you hear.

1. Penguins in this movie is symbolic for all life forms on this Earth.

2. We have to SAVE THIS PLANET people!!!!!

3. Everyone is unique in their special way. Respect them and vice versa.

4. Family is very very important. No matter what you do, they still love you but still don’t do anything stupid.

5. It takes a lot of courage to be yourself. Don’t waste what is good in you, it can benefit others.

This are the top 5 things that I can say and feel like expressing about. Happy Feet is mainly educational, beneficial and at the same time, entertaining of course, otherwise it’s not an animated movie.

P.S. The music in this movie are great. Most of them 50s to 70s music. For example, Heartbreak Hotel(Elvis Presley), Boogie Wonderland(Earth, Wind and Fire), My Way(Paul Anka song but sang in spanish, i think). I can remember this few coz they are memorable to me but still there are other great songs too which i can’t recall their names.

Conclusion: Don’t miss this movie!!! It’s a must see! Worst come to worst, buy the DVD! ^_^

This is Boredom

December 4th, 2006 by lily-aka-cherylyn

What have I been up to lately?

I found out that my Warcraft wasn’t missing at all. Seems like the my files were backed-up before reformatting, thank goodness. The songs that  I lost in the process were also found and I have trouble deleting the unnecessary duplicates.

I’m also on a work out plan. Waking up at 7am. Cycling around the neighbourhood and walking at the field. I seriously need to shed off a few kgs. I can’t bear the thought of not wearing nice clothes for the next new year.

Keyboard playing hasn’t totally stop for me although I’m also on a study revision play. I try to keep up with 2 hours a day playing for the exams and maybe another hour for leisure aka personal entertainment.

As for revision, I have to be serious on this one. I can’t lag any further in my studies this time since next year the D-year and also the year for my grade 8. I really have no time to waste.

Not much friend gathering. I almost organise a party but backfired anyway. Anyway, outings are so expensive nowadays.

I’m not baking ever so often now. It’s a messy and fattening activity, not to mention expensive.

I skipped BM tuition this month. I really need my Saturdays free for once in a year. Other than that, all the other tuitions are closed for December.

I’m pretty much planned about most things.

Hopefully you planned yours. ^_^
